Our trainer, Karen, starts all our youngsters to a very high
standard.
Karen Whiston has been riding as long as she remembers. With
32 years successful competition experience, this includes:-
- Eventing
- On a shoestring.
- Up to CCI*** international level.
including being placed at Blenheim International Three Day Event,
riding a horse that she acquired due to a behaviour problem a few
years before.

Karen is also successfully competing at Medium level
Dressage and hopes that her current horse Bartok II will be ready to
compete at Advanced Medium very soon. She takes pride in the fact that
she has successfully started, schooled, and competed on many different
types of horses; from Arabs and Thoughbreds, to Warmbloods and Shires to
the wonderful cobs and native ponies, she enjoys the variety and their
different personalities.
Karen has been teaching since 1981, she holds the BHSII and the BHS
Stable Managers Certificate, which is the highest Stable Management exam
that the BHS award. In 1986 Karen was awarded the runner up position in
the Young Instructor of the Year Award.

Over the past few years Karen has been very inspired to study
new ideas and methods; particularly Monty Roberts Techniques,
equine ethology and horse psychology. To complement this she is
now an approved 'Ride with your Mind' Coach. Karen has found
these new areas very helpful to allow her to grow in the areas
of horsemanship that she is passionate about. Allowing the horse
to be a horse, understanding why his behaviour is as it is and
developing a positive, empathic, calm and trusting relationship
between the horse and rider. Karen offers a professional,
helpful, enthusiastic, positive, non judgmental service.
She is happy to teach 'riding to enhance you and your horses'
partnership and performance, also ground work for any age of
horse or pony to build a greater bond and increases confidence
or to overcome a particular problem.
Finally, Karen is happy to teach private or group lessons
and is available for clinics and lectures.
